Bidhannagar, Kolkata’s key satellite town, is located on the eastern outskirts of the city. Named in honor of Dr. Bidhan Chandra Roy, the first Chief Minister of West Bengal, Bidhannagar was conceived to alleviate the mounting population strain on Kolkata. Initially known as Salt Lake, the township underwent a name change to Bidhannagar. The process of admitting new members into cooperative housing in Bidhannagar is governed by the rules and regulations set by the Department of Urban Development & Municipal Affairs, Government of West Bengal, and as per the provisions of the West Bengal Cooperative Society Act, 2006.In order to process an application and approve new members for cooperative housing in Bidhannagar (Salt Lake City), the following documents must be submitted.

  14. A copy of the Resignation letter of the outgoing member should be attested by the Secretary/Chairman of the concerned Co-operative Society.

2. That I submit that I am not a member of any other Housing Co-operative Society in the state of West Bengal.

That I or any member of my own family do not own any land/plot of Bastu land, house or flat or apartment within the local limits of any municipal corporation area or municipality or town or any other Gram Panchayat or any notified area where the Co-operative Housing Society Ltd.(bearing its Registration No. ) is duly situated.
